Privacy policy

Your recordings, scripts and transcripts stay on your device. We don’t run servers that receive them, and the app has no advertising and no analytics.

Pacedot is a teleprompter and recorder that works on your device. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your device and when.

Who is responsible

Pacedot is published by [publisher name, address]. For any privacy question or request, write to [contact email].

What leaves your device, and when

AI director (optional, Premium). When you ask the AI director to mark up a script, the app sends the script text and the language you chose to our server, together with a proof of your Premium subscription from the app store. Our server passes the text to Anthropic, which runs the AI model, and sends the marks back to the app. The button tells you before anything is sent. We don't store your script on our server: we keep only a count of the script-minutes you used, so we can apply your monthly allowance. Anthropic handles the text as our service provider and, under its commercial terms, doesn't use it to train its models. The marks are saved with your script on your device. Without Premium, marks are made on your device and nothing is sent.

Speech model download. When you set up speech recognition, the app downloads public model files from Hugging Face. No recording or text is sent. Like any download, Hugging Face receives ordinary connection details such as your IP address.

App stores. If you install the app from the Microsoft Store or Google Play, the store handles purchases and updates and may share anonymous crash and performance reports with us, according to its own privacy policy and your system settings. These reports don't include your recordings or scripts.

This website and the waitlist

The website sets no cookies and uses no advertising or tracking scripts. If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address, and the optional answer about what you record, to tell you when the beta opens and about the launch offer. Kit (kit.com), our email service, stores this list for us. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.

What we don't do

  • No advertising, tracking or analytics in the app.
  • No selling or sharing of personal data.
  • No logging of scripts, recordings, keys or typed characters.
  • No face recognition. Any camera framing runs on your device and doesn't identify anyone.

Recording other people

If you record other people, you are responsible for getting their consent where the law requires it.

Children

Pacedot is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets that age.

Your rights

Because your data stays on your device, you can view, export and delete it yourself at any time. If you live in the EU, the UK, Morocco or a US state with privacy laws, you have rights to access, correct and erase personal data we hold. Apart from a waitlist email, we hold none from the app itself, but you can contact us with any request at the address above, and you can complain to your data protection authority (for example the CNIL in France or the CNDP in Morocco).

Changes

If a future version adds anything that sends data from your device, such as accounts or a subscription, we will update this policy before releasing that version, and the app will ask before sending anything.
